Join us at the Community Pop Up Park for Sunday Funday: Grow a Garden. This great kids event is Sunday, June 25 from 10 am to noon at The Loop's Pop Up Park at 807 Business Loop 70 E, right next door to Dave Griggs Flooring America and Crazy Good Burritos.
We know how much children loved playing planting in the dirt so bring them by and let them have some fun planting aromatic herbs. We'll be teaming up with Ranjana Hans of Raw Roots Turmeric to plant a garden. Ranjana grows and processes Ayurvedic herbs for use in smoothies, teas, and even coffee. She'll also take the time to talk with folks about the types of herbs, how they grow, and what they can be used for.
Herbs we'll be planting in our in our Community Pop-Up Park include:
- Turmeric
- Tulsi (Sacred Holy Basil)
- Parijat (Harshringar or Night-Blooming Jasmine)
- Rajnigandha (Tuberose)
We'll also have other activities for families, including the STEAM Bus with more fun with plants and the environment. Kids of all ages are welcome to get some hands-on learning and have tons of fun. And The Biscuit Center and Crazy Good Burritos will be there for all your breakfast needs.
What on earth is the STEAM Bus?
The STEAM Bus is a fun and innovative project which helps children grasp scientific concepts through play and learning. The bus can accommodate up to 25 kids at a time and features a variety of tools including 3D printers, virtual reality goggles, LEGO, robots, and micro:bits. Adults are on hand to show kids how to use the equipment.
