Event Details

This 5 session workshop gives you the skills to design and create pieces to make your wedding uniquely yours. We will work on favors, party gifts, event swag and decor. Over the course of 5 weeks you will gain authorization to use laser cutters, vinyl cutters, heat presses, and the embroidery machine through the creation of 10 custom items. 

Week 1 – Design Your Wedding in Adobe – This 2.5-Hour class teaches students about Adobe Illustrator with a focus on how to design, convert, and prepare files for laser, vinyl, and embroidery. We will also talk about where you can find designs and customize them for your event.

Week 2- Intro to Laser Cutting – 2.5-hour access class introducing the Universal Systems Laser Cutters as well as safety protocols and uses. We will apply your custom designs to a champagne flute, bottle opener, and a slate coaster as well as address other ways these machines can be used for your event (table numbers, card boxes, etc).

Week 3 – Intro to Machine Embroidery- 2.5-hour access class introducing the Melco Bravo embroidery machine as well as safety protocols and uses. We will apply your custom designs to create a hat. This class will also address other ways this machine can be used for your event (robes, handkerchiefs, etc).

Week 4- Intro to Vinyl Cutting – 2.5-hour access class introducing the GCC vinyl cutters and the Cricut Maker machine as well as safety protocols and uses. We will apply your custom designs to a tumbler and a tote bag. This class will also give you the skills to create custom table decor and signage.

Week 5 – Intro to Heat Transfers- 2.5-hour access introducing the heat transfer software and printer along with the heat press uses and safety protocols. We will apply your custom designs to a tea towel, coozie, makeup bag, and mug.

If you have not taken MACCLab Orientation please arrive 30 minutes prior to class on Week 1 to do so.

Members, students, and guests must wear closed toe shoes at all times when in the makerspace.
