I70 Construction Closures

If you missed the show at the new Providence Bridge last time, you’ve got one more chance to see the crews in action as they place the final bridge girders over I70 at Providence.

The remaining girders for the new Providence Road overpass in Columbia are scheduled to be installed overnight this Tuesday, September 22.

For the safety of drivers, the interstate will narrow to one lane in each direction. Rolling roadblocks will be used to safely place these large beams, which will support the driving surface of the new bridge. These brief stoppages, coordinated with law enforcement, are expected to impact both directions of traffic from 7:00 pm on September 22 to 6:00 am on September 23.

For the duration of this work, 7:00 pm this Tuesday until 6:00 am this Wednesday, the following ramps will be closed:

  • Stadium Boulevard ramp onto eastbound I-70 (Exit 124)
  • Business Loop 70/West Boulevard ramp onto eastbound I-70 (Exit 125)
  • Rangeline Street onto westbound I-70 (Exit 127)
  • U.S. 63/I-70 Connector onto westbound I-70 (Exit 128)

All ramps at the Providence Road interchange are currently closed and will remain closed until the new bridge is complete, which is expected at the end of October.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use extra caution, and follow posted signs and traffic control devices.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
