The City of Columbia is in the final stages of planning a new bike boulevard that will travel through the neighborhoods to the south, connecting The Loop to the MKT Trail. Cyclists will share the road with cars, although non-residential drivers will be encouraged to take roads such as Garth or West instead. The bike boulevard will also have bike-friendly infrastructure and signage.
This is a great opportunity to connect The Loop to the surrounding neighborhoods and will help us encourage bike travel to work or school. The work is scheduled to begin late summer 2015 or spring of 2016. For more information on the MKT-Parkade Bike Boulevard, visit www.gocolumbiamo.com.
