Nebraska Ave. Stormwater Project

The Stormwater Utility has scheduled an interested parties meeting regarding the Nebraska Ave. Stormwater Management Project.

The meeting will take place in Council Chambers in City Hall at 701 E. Broadway on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to present and discuss preliminary plans for the Nebraska Ave. Stormwater Management Project.

The goal for this project is to reduce street flooding and prevent infrastructure failure of the storm drainage conveyance box which crosses under the street near 301 Nebraska Avenue. The project will replace undersized storm drainage infrastructure in the Nebraska Avenue Right-of-Way, and add inlets and pipe to reduce the incidence of street flooding. The work may require closing Nebraska where the pipe crosses the street while the infrastructure under the street is replaced and the inlets are constructed. (See enclosed location drawing.)

The project has a budget of $1.1 million and is funded by the Stormwater Utility.

This meeting is the first step of a standard project process which can take as much as a year or more before construction can begin. The next steps are a public hearing before City Council, acquisition of necessary easements, finishing the plans, bidding the work, and construction.
