New Beautification Projects

We had teams of volunteers out this past weekend working on a collection of beautification projects for the street. Volunteers from ForColumbia turned out to our Community Pop-Up Park to replace light bulbs, paint colorful designs on the asphalt, and plant flowers, tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries. They also added blue and orange sun shades to a corner of the park and since all our furniture is moveable, visitors can move their chairs to follow the shade.

Other teams were out on the street with cans of colorful paint and big stencils, adding Loop graphics to the sidewalks around our crosswalks. Now, pedestrian have a bright and cheerful signal that a crossing is close by.

Both these projects are part of our comprehensive Loop Corridor Plan which focuses on building public spaces, increasing pedestrian safety, and creating a sense of identity along the Business Loop. Read more about our Loop Corridor Plan and take a look at all our other initiatives.
