The Federal Highway Act creating Highway 40 was signed on November 11, 1926 and one way we’re marking this centennial is with special historic street signs. The Historic Highway 40 signs were installed on all cross street sign posts facing the Business Loop. The City of Columbia supported this project by manufacturing and installing the seventeen signs on our behalf. And best of all they included new Business Loop 70 signs as well, eliminating old, faded signs and adding some consistency to our wayfinding.
