Providence Road to Be Named Sherman Brown Memorial Highway

A section of Missouri Route 163 (Providence Road) between Interstate 70 and Business Loop 70 will be named the "Sherman Brown Jr Memorial Highway" at a ceremony scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The highway dedication will take place in the parking lot of Joe Machens Nissan, 201 Nebraska Ave.
Brown, who passed away Aug. 15, 2016, owned and operated Lindsey Rentals for many years and was an influential member of the Columbia community. He was known for mentoring many individuals throughout his life.
Brown’s wife, Vicki; friend Bill Clark; and state Rep. Kip Kendrick will speak at the sign unveiling ceremony. Kendrick sponsored the legislation to honor the location where Brown and his siblings grew up.
